boyThis set of tips was heavily influenced with all the events happening in our house in preparation for the Holidays. This year seems to be so much more hectic than others and keeping my children occupied just for a few minutes was essential. I hope you enjoy my tips and find them useful.

Tips 76 through 90:

  1. Make reindeer feed – use oats, seeds, glitter, sequence – mix well – spread out late PM in front yard to guarantee happy reindeer

  2. Make seed planting strips for gifts – use popular seeds like marigolds and papertowels – spread seeds on wet towels fold & let dry

  3. Make Holiday Thank you cards – using cardstock, remnants of wrapping paper, tags & other decorations – a note to say thanks is loved

  4. Make an assortment of Holiday Cookies – Wrap in festive treat bags (so many choices) – take to your neighbors as a thank you gift

  5. Indoor physical activity – use a balloon – keep it off the floor as long as possible – using only hands, or feet, or elbows…

  6. Teach him how to make some simple knots – slip knot, square knot, quick release knot – instruction on the web or in survival books

  7. Make your house smell sweet & spicy – use an orange & have him make a nice design by piercing it with clover seeds – place in bowl

  8. Make your own tic tac toe game using heavy duty cardboard or thin oak veneer, paint, varnish – use bottle caps, coins as game pieces

  9. Basic geography – have him draw a map of his route to school, with landmarks, points of interest, streets, stores – discuss details

  10. For classmate holiday gift bags – make a salty snack with peanuts, pretzels, cereal like chex, popcorn, mix in a large bowl & bag up

  11. Make a sock puppet, use a colorful or even a striped sock, add googly eyes, use yarn for hair, use felt to add final touches

  12. Basic sewing – make simple holiday bags – use colorful fabric – square or rectangles – fold over hem – decorative tie – use & reuse

  13. Make homemade holiday cards using cut potatoes or sponges as stamps, dipped into colorful paint, add sprinkles for some shine

  14. Fill homemade advent calendar (see tip 76) with very small decorations to put on a miniature tree – use as a center piece on table

  15. Make a home made advent calendar use small boxes, like match boxes, apply to a background, create a theme & decorate – reuse in 2010

Part six in an undefined numbered series of tips. These tips are initially posted Monday through Saturday on Twitter around 8:30AM (Pacific Time). I welcome any suggestions, additions or comments. Please keep in mind all projects, crafts & ideas have to written in 140 characters or less.
