This month at The Boy’s Store we are highlighting the great designer brand New Jammies created by designer and founder Nicole Johnson. Nicole gave us a few minutes of her time to tell us about some of the things that make New Jammies great and it gave us a chance to learn more about this great clothing line and how it cam to be.

New Jammies has a great mission. According to Nicole Johnson New Jammies has been focused on, “[making] bedtime fun, healthy, and educational. began with our Fruit and Veggie collection, which was designed to teach children about healthy, New Jammies natural foods through bold, colorful imagery. The collection has evolved into new prints and designs that I feel also have imagery designed to encourage learning about being active and nature.” With this in mind they set about creating an entire line of pajamas that is meant to encourage learning and fun while still maintaining the comfort and restful bedtime quality. Their playful nature is exhibited in their brand name as well as the designs they come up with. The brand is actually named after a term Nicole’s mother used at bedtime quite frequently. “My mom use to tell us to get into our Jammies for bedtime. I think the word “Jammies” in general reminds me of being a kid and relaxing, being comfy and being with family.” What is so great and new about Jammies you may ask? Well what is great about New Jammies is the fact that they offer only organic cotton, which in the fashion industry is still a relatively new concept. This lends to the comfort and the Eco-friendly nature of the brand. Continue reading »

IIMAGINE GreenWear is going back to the time when fabric prints were made with dyes, before the invention of modern screen inks. The combination of using certified organic cotton to make their garments and using only eco-friendly dyes for decoration makes their product the greenest in the imprinted sportswear industry. All products are designed and made in the USA.

Despite major ecological concerns of modern textile manufacturing and processing, clothing has not generally been on the radar of the Green initiative. IMAGINE GreenWear believes that sustainable clothing manufacturing is now becoming noticed, and will continue to do so with fresh fashion ideas. If the style is right, it just feels good to wear or buy organic clothes.

By offering an alternative to screen printing inks, IMAGINE GreenWear can make a difference in the industry which prints millions of images daily. Their dye printing process is very different than the inks used on all t-shirts and sportswear which have serious environmental and health concerns. The dyes they use are super soft and washable, and safe for the most delicate skin and the environment. Dyes are very versatile, and allow them to make fun, creative and all-over colorful graphic designs.

Kiwi logoKiwi Industries’ philosophy is about living a lifestyle reminiscent of the past, where material “things” are replaced with “free time”. Living in New Zealand, where respect for nature and human life take precedent over everything, taught the founders of Kiwi Industries to make an effort and protect Earth for the next generation.

Natural, organic and recycled fibers are used to create classic designs with a modern twist. Only high quality fabric is used each washing truly makes each garment softer and softer with time. Wear it, wash it, pass it down from child to child.

Kiwi Industries is passionate about social and environmental awareness. Only socially responsible labor providing a sweatshop free and living wage is used to create Kiwi’s garments. Everything including their marketing on recycled paper is geared towards the goal to provide a great line of clothing while making a positive impact on the environment both human and natural.

The Fall 09 collection is 100% organic. Kiwi industries has been producing organic clothing for six years for a least a portion of each collections. With the exception of knitted items, all styles are made in the United States. All sweaters are knit in a fair-trade women’s cooperative in South America, where women knit from homes, often caring for their children and often providing the households sole source of income.littleboykiwi

I am very happy to bring back Kiwi Industries to The Boy’s Store. The bright colors make each Kiwi garment instantly recognizable. Collections are put together so that you can mix and match tops and bottoms for a variety of different looks and seasons.

Kiwi Industries’ clothing is simply made to last a lifetime. Through wild outdoor adventures, through a magical world of make-believe, through pure, natural fun.

Go green, go Kiwi!!
