Seashell Painting

Are you looking for some simple and fun summer crafts to do at home with your kids? I love simple activities that allow the kids to be creative and have fun without getting bogged down with too many rules and restrictions. I really feel like summer is the chance to learn hands-on, to experience the world in its natural state, learn to ride a bike, skateboard, swim, or do a handstand. So much of our kids' lives are spent in a classroom behind a desk. Then they get to grow up and be behind a desk some more. Summer is one of the few times in life when the world seems to slow down some and allow for everyone to enjoy the outdoors, pick up a new hobby, or get reacquainted with an old one.

I love the idea of painting and doing an art project, especially one that includes natural items like seashells. Not only does it get the kids' creative juices flowing it also gives me an excuse to travel to the beach and let them choose some pieces to work with.

This fun activity can be found at Fantastic Fun and Learning. You can follow the tutorial and learn some easy ways to make these beautiful creations by checking out their original post. My favorite part of this activity was that it allowed the kids to do something different, none of the seashells looked the same. We are even talking about gluing them to a picture frame that will house a picture of us all at the beach together this summer.
