Kids at the Thanksgiving Table: Coloring Pages and Games

We sit together as a family for the holidays. We used to do a kids' table but now we just let the kids sit with us at the Thanksgiving table. To keep them busy we try to have little activities at the table. We keep Mad Libs, coloring pages, and we all play ice-breaker games together. This year our kids are really into Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang, so we tried to incorporate them into our ideas this year. We found some great coloring pages at Holidappy. We found some fun Mad Libs from Country Living. What do you...

Getting in the Spirit: Thanksgiving is more than just pie!

Thanksgiving is one of those taken-for-granted holidays and as well as getting in the spirit for it. It falls right between Halloween and Christmas, which let's face it most kids love. It can be hard to get kids in the Thanksgiving spirit. Every year my kids learn about the first Thanksgiving. We read the book If You Were a Kid at the First Thanksgiving. Pumpkin Launcher: Lego Fun

Every year the weekend of Thanksgiving my family watches a show called Punkin Chunkin. On this show people from all over the country gather in Delaware to launch pumpkins from catapult machines and canons. The pumpkin that travels the farthest wins. It is a silly and fun show that allows for creativity and incredible engineering. This year I found a fun little activity for the kids to do while they watch. Thank you Frugal Fun 4 Boys for always coming up with incredible ways to entertain my brood! This Pumpkin Catapult is made from Legos, a family favorite in this house,...

Thanksgiving Place-mat: Thankful Writing Activity

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year, usually my parents host and it is a grand and formal affair. When everyone sits around the table we chat, catch-up, and share a little about our year. I love spending the holiday with my family, and my mother is an amazing host. However, I am not my mother, and my style is much less formal. So this year I am choosing to do things my way instead of trying to out-do my mother at something she is far better at. I have already chosen to seat everyone family style -- no kids table....

Best Books: Peppa Gives Thanks

In our house Peppa Pig is a HUGE favorite. All of my kids love the pig family. Peppa and George are the absolute favorites, but everyone is enjoyable in this sweet pig family. We love the adventures that the books and show take us on as a family. But this year I was incredibly impressed to see that there was a new book for the holiday season. While the book does not explicitly mention Thanksgiving, which is of course an American holiday while Peppa Pig and her creator are from the UK, the book discusses the idea of being thankful...
