Dr. Seuss has created some of the most amazing children’s books, but his book, My Book About Me, is one of the most unique of his creations. And with Dr. Seuss that is saying something. What makes My Book About Me so unique you might ask? Well it is a story created by you, about you, and nothing else. In My Book About Me you are the author with a little help from Dr. Seuss and Roy McKie. You have the opportunity to write a story about your life, your favorite things, where you live, and what you do. It even includes incredible illustrations for you to finish that will go along with your life’s story.

Kids will love this book because it will be fun for them to write about their favorite things, but it is also an educational book. It will help your child learn more about themselves, what they like about themselves, and it will help them to learn important personal information like their address and their phone number. This book is great for children ages 4 and up. It also serves as a type of diary, or personal scrapbook. In a few years when your little one is all grown up you will both enjoy looking back and reading about their life in their own words. It s a chronicle of their personal growth. Besides, what better way to encourage your child to write and read than by letting them write their very own book?

This month we would like to highlight this incredible book because of its unique way of getting children interested in reading. Dr. Seuss was an avid supporter of children’s literacy during his life and since his passing his foundations have continued to search for ways to initiate young readers into a world of magic and knowledge. As parents it is also our responsibility to get our children interested in reading and with the help of this book and The Boy’s Store’s book of the month we are one step closer to creating a whole new generation of readers!

Cars has been a hit amongst kids since its first appearance on the big screen in 2006. So it is no surprise that boys all over the world have been begging for a Cars themed birthday party, even more so since the sequel premiered in 2011. A Cars theme can be incredibly fun and easy to accomplish, even on a budget.

Party Printables:

The key to a great Cars themed party are custom invites, party tags, and even pit passes. Of course we don’t all have the creative bone in our bodies, so it can be difficult creating fun custom invites. Especially if we don’t have time to create a whole party on our own. That’s why there are great places to purchase custom party themes from places like Etsy where great crafters gather to sell their wares. Check out this great pack of Cars Printables from Etsy seller SarahoChic. For only $35 you get thank you tags, pit crew passes, party signs, sweet and food tags, and menu tags.

Cups:

Games:

Not only can your kids have a great time watching their favorite movie at the party they can also have fun racing their very own cars. With the balloon car craft highlighted last time on our blog your kids can race cars that they not only had fun making and decorating on their own they can also get hours of entertainment hours out of the race. Then when a winner is finally found you can reward their racer with a piston cup trophy.

With just a few custom touches your little man can have a fun and outrageous Cars party for his birthday this year!

Boys of all ages love cars, especially cars that go fast. In the words of Lightning McQueen, “Floats like a Cadillac, stings like a Beemer!” Boys enjoy making their toy cars go fast, and racing them is like a. Dream come true. So why not make a few little boys dreams come true with this tried and true Soap Box Balloon Powered Car. This neat racer is easily cared at home, fun to make, and even more fun to race. If you wanted you could even set this up as a party activity for a Cars themed birthday party. Let each boy car their own racer, then let them see whose is faster. The winner can even win the Piston Cup! Here are the materials you will need to craft your own racer.

What you will need:

-A box from a bar of soap
-Colored plastic tape
-Small number stickers
-Sharpened pencil
-Two 5-inch lengths of wooden skewer
-White glue
-Four 1-inch wooden beads with 1/8-inch holes
-Cylindrical balloon
-Bendable drinking straw

What you will do:
1. For each racer, decorate a soap box with colored-tape racing stripes and stick-on numbers.
2. Use the pencil tip to poke 2 axle holes on each side of the box, 3/4 inch from each end and 1/4 inch up from the bottom. Push a skewer section through each set of holes.
3. For wheels, glue beads onto the ends of the axles, then let the glue dry.
4. Blow up the balloon a couple of times to stretch it out, and stick the bendy end of the straw into the neck.
5. Use tape to seal the balloon to the straw, then tape the straw to the top of the box. To set your vehicle in motion, inflate the balloon through the straw, then pinch the end, set the car on a hard surface, and let it go.
