Lego STEAM Activity

Legos are such a fun and simple way to teach STEM. They can be an excellent tool for teaching mechanics and engineering. Our kids love to build with Legos for fun, and I let them whenever they want to, however, I also like to sometimes challenge them with something like this bridge-building activity.

Frugal Fun 4 Boys always has fantastic ideas for boys and girls. This bridge-building activity challenges the engineer in everyone. All you need is some legos, a drawing of a body of water to cross, and a little ingenuity.

Every builder will come up with a different way to cross the water. Not all of the ideas will pan out perfectly at first, that is why it is a challenge. Trial and error is one of the best ways to learn. As your kids discover what will and will not hold their legos together and make a sturdy crossing they will slowly realize the necessary elements of a sturdy foundation, weight, and the need for reinforcement.

This activity will bring fun, laughter, a little frustration, and so much pride when they finally manage to build their sturdy bridge. Check out Frugal Fun 4 Boys for the incredibly cool and innovative idea now.
