Easter Dress Style

Another holiday is looming! We try to get the whole family together at Easter and we almost always do a family photo. The entire extended family only gathers occasionally so we try to take advantage of the photo opportunities as often as possible. To our kids' dismay, this means that we plan to all wear nice clothes. This year we have such wonderful weather on the horizon that I am planning light spring looks, thank goodness The Boy’s Store has such great deals on boy's dress wear right now. Leprechaun Trap - March STEAM project

St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal in our house. My Great Grandparents were Irish immigrants in the 1900’s, so we always celebrate the holiday with great joy and respect. As kids I remember my grandmother cooking corned beef for dinner, I remember singing songs and enjoying treats. We even created a leprechaun trap with my mom and grandmother. It was always fun to create a little trap that would attempt to capture a leprechaun. We never did actually catch one, but we always ended up with some sweet little gold covered chocolate treats. It became a tradition we all...

DIY Overnight Crystals

We are still enjoying our STEAM activities. This time we are going to try to create our very own crystals. Rocks have always been a favorite in our house. I find them in cups, pockets, shoes, and even in the bed! My kids collect them everywhere we go. Recently, they have even begun recognizing the different types of rocks. My oldest has taken a keen interest in geodes. We enjoy hiking and have found several while out on wild excursions, so we thought it was time she learned about how they are made.   Geodes and crystals are part of...

Childrens Love Languages

A few years ago my husband and I read a book about Love Languages. It talks about how each of us feels loved in different ways, and how to understand how your partner feels love and needs to be shown love. It was eye-opening for us. We both feel love differently, so we understand that we have to show love differently to one another. Recently we thought to ourselves how different our kids were as well. We discussed all the unique things about each of them. Then we asked each other how do our kids feel loved? So we reopened...
